Anyone else feeling the chill at Booking? Seeing signs...

Hey folks, been with Booking for a few years now in [specific department, e.g., Product]. Lately, the vibe feels...off. Lots of whispers, not a lot of clear communication from leadership. We've seen some budget freezes, hiring slowdowns, and a general 'belt-tightening' atmosphere that's hard to ignore. The news about potential government aid applications in Europe has definitely made people nervous too. It feels like they might be bracing for impact. Anyone else in different departments picking up on similar signals? Trying to gauge if this is a company-wide thing or just my specific corner feeling the pressure. Curious to hear if anyone has concrete info or just a gut feeling.

Yeah, I've definitely felt a shift over the last year. My team's projects have seen significant scope reductions, and the usual enthusiasm for new initiatives seems to have waned. It's understandable given the economic climate, but the lack of transparency about the long-term strategy is a bit unsettling. Hoping for some clarity soon.

From the engineering side, we're seeing more emphasis on 'efficiency' and 'optimization' which sometimes translates to reduced headcount or re-prioritizing tasks away from innovation. It's a tough balance when you're trying to build for the future while dealing with immediate pressures. The market is certainly challenging for everyone in the travel tech space right now.
