Booking.com's pivot to 'efficiency' is killing morale
53
0x532e…653dIs it just me, or does it feel like Booking has completely lost the plot? We’re losing people by the hundreds—the latest WARN notice for Louisville is just another drop in the bucket—yet management continues to push these aggressive, impossible roadmaps as if we aren’t running on a skeleton crew. It feels like every time we get an update, it’s about 'streamlining' or 'global optimization' while the actual engineering experience is the worst I’ve ever seen. We’re losing institutional knowledge at a breakneck pace, and the people left behind are just expected to pick up the slack without any additional support. There’s no vision, no long-term plan, just reactionary cost-cutting. I’m tired of hearing about 'resilience' in every town hall while my slack channels get quieter every single week. At this point, I don’t even know who is making the calls anymore, because whoever it is clearly doesn't understand how the platform actually works. Anyone else feel like the company is just being stripped for parts?
