Seeing some concerning trends in my department...

Hey everyone, long-time lurker here, but feeling the need to post. I've been with Booking.com for a few years now, and lately, things just feel... off. My department has been unusually quiet, fewer new projects kicking off, and there's a strange sort of 'walking on eggshells' vibe during team meetings. People are hesitant to speak up, and there's a lot of hushed conversation after hours. I've seen some internal tools deprioritized and a general slowdown in hiring for certain roles. I know there's been talk about the market, but it feels more specific than that. Has anyone else in other departments noticed similar things? Trying to gauge if this is a company-wide thing or just a localized issue in my corner of the org. Worried about what this might mean down the line. Just want to hear if others are picking up on this too.

It's understandable to feel uneasy when there's a shift in the atmosphere and project pipeline slows down. That 'walking on eggshells' feeling can be really draining and disruptive to collaboration. It's definitely a sign that something might be changing, whether it's strategic shifts, budget adjustments, or something else entirely. Hopefully, leadership will provide some clarity soon to ease concerns and get things moving forward again.

I hear you. That kind of uncertainty can really impact morale and productivity. When initiatives get deprioritized and hiring cools, it often signals a period of re-evaluation or caution within the company. It's tough when people feel hesitant to voice concerns openly. Perhaps seeking out informal chats with trusted colleagues might offer some insight into what's behind the slowdown and the hushed conversations.
