Just wanted to open a thread to discuss how people are feeling about the general biotech/pharma landscape and how it might be affecting BMS specifically. We've seen a lot of companies in the space making tough decisions lately. While there haven't been any major layoff announcements at BMS that I'm aware of, the economic climate and the push for efficiency across the board are definitely palpable. Are performance reviews feeling more scrutinized? Are project timelines being squeezed harder? I'm trying to stay focused on my work, but it's hard not to get caught up in the 'what ifs.' Curious to hear from others on how you're managing the current environment and if you're seeing any subtle signs of pressure within your departments. Staying positive but also realistic here.

I've definitely noticed the increased pressure. Performance reviews seem to be focusing much more on tangible, short-term results, and I've seen a few project scopes get tightened unexpectedly. It feels like there's a greater emphasis on demonstrating immediate ROI for everything, which can be challenging for longer-term research initiatives. It's a different vibe than a year or two ago, for sure.

It's a valid concern. While the general mood is a bit more cautious across the industry, I haven't personally experienced any drastic changes in my day-to-day work at BMS. My team's projects are still moving forward, and timelines are challenging but manageable. Perhaps the impact varies significantly by department or therapeutic area? Curious to hear if others have had different experiences.
