The 'family' feeling was always just a marketing pitch to keep us working longer hours for less. It’s sad it took a round of layoffs for people to realize they are just headcount on a spreadsheet. I’ve stopped looking for purpose in my work here and am purely focused on updating my resume. The silence from management isn't an accident; they are just waiting for the dust to settle so they can pretend this never happened while we scramble to pick up the pieces of our gutted teams.
It is honestly heartbreaking to see the place I spent years building being dismantled like this. I used to be proud to wear the gear and talk about our history, but now I just keep my head down and try to avoid eye contact in the halls. The trust is completely gone, and no amount of corporate town halls can fix that. If you are feeling discouraged, know that you aren't the only one—the entire floor feels like a funeral right now.
