Severance packages after the recent 245 cut

For those of you who were unfortunately let go in the recent round, how is the severance situation looking? I’m hearing conflicting reports from people in different departments. Some are saying they got decent extensions on benefits, while others are claiming it was the bare minimum. I’m currently still employed but the writing is on the wall for my specific team. I’d rather know what to expect before HR calls me into a 'check-in' meeting. Are they offering any meaningful outplacement services or is it just the standard boilerplate package? Any info helps, honestly just trying to calculate my runway if the worst happens next month. Also, did anyone get any luck negotiating, or are they holding firm on the initial offer across the board? Stay strong everyone, this company isn't what it used to be.

It really depends on your tenure and your specific pay grade. I was let go last week, and the package was definitely not as generous as past rounds. You get the standard weeks-per-year-of-service, but the 'extended benefits' everyone is whispering about are basically just COBRA subsidies for a few months. Don't expect any premium outplacement services; they gave us access to a generic career portal that feels like it hasn't been updated since 2010. Start polishing your resume now rather than waiting for the meeting.

I’m sorry you’re going through this stress. My friend in sales got a slightly better deal than the folks in corporate, but it’s still bare bones compared to the rumors floating around. They seem to be pushing hard to get people to sign the release forms immediately. If you’re worried about your team, keep your head down but start networking externally today. The internal job boards are pretty stagnant, and the severance isn’t enough to sustain you if the market doesn't pick up soon. Stay prepared and don't take the first offer if you have any leverage.
