The leadership team has been hiding behind corporate jargon for weeks, but the lack of transparency is hitting a breaking point. My understanding is that the severance packages are slightly above the absolute legal minimum, but given the seniority of many folks at the St. Gabriel site, it feels like a slap in the face. They treat years of dedication like a line item on a spreadsheet to be wiped away. It’s disgusting how they’ve handled the communication rollout, leaving everyone in the dark until the very last possible second.
I was talking to a few guys still on the floor yesterday and the morale is non-existent. Most of the people left are just waiting for their own pink slips while trying to train the remaining skeleton crew. It’s clear that management has already moved on mentally and is just focused on the logistical shutdown. If you are still in a role that interacts with the plant, start updating your resume today. Don't expect any loyalty from them—they've made it abundantly clear that your position is just another cost they are eager to cut.
