Feeling the pressure to do more with less lately

Is it just my branch, or is the 'operational efficiency' mandate getting out of control? I’m constantly being told to hit higher volume targets with fewer drivers and less warehouse support. We’re burning people out, and the turnover is starting to look like a red flag. Every time I log into the portal, I’m waiting for that one 'all-hands' invite to pop up on the calendar. The way they’re pushing us right now feels like they’re trying to squeeze every cent out of the skeleton crews before making a decision on the remaining staff. Honestly, I’m just tired of the uncertainty. If they’re planning to trim the fat, I wish they’d just rip the band-aid off so we can stop pretending like this workload is sustainable. Anyone else feeling like the writing is on the wall?

It is definitely not just your location. The push for 'operational efficiency' is being felt across almost every branch right now. They are obsessed with cutting costs to keep the quarterly numbers looking good for the higher-ups, but they completely ignore the reality on the ground. We are running ragged trying to cover multiple roles just to keep the yard moving. Eventually, the skeleton crew strategy is going to backfire when they realize there is no one left to actually do the physical labor.

Hang in there, but keep your resume polished. That corporate mindset of maximizing output while slashing headcount is a classic sign that they are prioritizing short-term margins over long-term stability. When you start seeing turnover spike, it usually means the workload has become unsustainable for the remaining staff. Don't set yourself on fire to keep their bottom line warm; if they aren't willing to staff the warehouse properly, that is a management failure, not a personal one.
