MD office closure rumors, anyone have the pulse?

So the 44-person cut notice hit the WARN list yesterday for Bethesda. Honestly, it feels like death by a thousand cuts at this point. I’ve been hearing whispers on the floor that this isn't the end of it for the Maryland location, but leadership is playing their usual game of 'everything is fine' until the email hits your inbox at 9 AM on a Monday. Has anyone heard if they are planning to shift these remaining roles to Charlotte, or are they just downsizing the footprint entirely? I’m exhausted from checking my badge access every morning wondering if it’s going to be my turn. If you got a package, feel free to share details—did they offer anything meaningful, or just the bare minimum? Stay safe out there.

The Bethesda situation is brutal, and unfortunately, the 'everything is fine' narrative is standard operating procedure for Carrier leadership right now. From what I’ve heard through the grapevine, they are definitely leaning into the Charlotte consolidation, but they’re doing it in these incremental waves to avoid a massive PR hit or a complete talent walkout all at once. If you’re still there, update your resume yesterday. The trend toward shrinking the footprint is clearly the long-term strategy, and anyone not in a critical hub is basically on borrowed time.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It’s an incredibly draining environment when management keeps gaslighting employees while the WARN notices start piling up. Based on the pattern we saw in other regions, this isn't just about downsizing—it's a deliberate migration to centralize operations in Charlotte. They’ll keep the 'business as usual' act going until the very last person is out the door. Don't wait for leadership to be honest with you; take care of yourself first and start reaching out to your network before the next round of cuts.
