Anyone else feeling the jitters? Heard rumors...

Been with Cat for 7 years now, mostly in manufacturing engineering at the East Peoria complex. Lately, the vibe in the breakroom and on team calls has been... tense. Lots of whispers about restructuring and headcount freezes. My manager has been super cagey when asked about future projects, which isn't like them. We haven't had any *official* announcements, but the silence is deafening. Is anyone else hearing similar things or seeing any signs? Curious if it's just my area or more widespread. Trying not to panic, but it's hard.

Yeah, I've noticed a similar atmosphere across the pond, though things are usually a bit more insulated here. My department got hit with some 'efficiency reviews' last quarter, and while nothing concrete has changed yet, the feeling is definitely 'wait and see.' My advice? Start updating that resume and networking just in case. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. It’s tough when things feel uncertain, especially after putting in so many years.

Honestly, 'tense' is the default for a lot of large industrial companies these days, isn't it? Especially with the current economic climate and supply chain weirdness. Manufacturing engineering is always going to be a core function, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions about massive layoffs just yet. Keep your head down, focus on your work, and wait for official word. Rumors are just that – rumors. Unless you see concrete action, it's hard to say what's really going on.
