CAT - Thoughts on current market conditions affecting us?

Curious to hear what others think about the current economic climate and how it might be impacting Caterpillar. We're in heavy machinery, so we're usually a bit more insulated from the rapid swings of tech, but I'm starting to wonder. Construction seems to be holding steady in some areas, but infrastructure spending is always up in the air, and global demand for mining equipment can be pretty volatile. Are any of the sales or engineering folks seeing a dip in orders or forecasts? Just trying to connect some dots and figure out if the recent quiet is just a normal cycle or something more. Hoping for the best, but want to be prepared if things take a turn.

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on things too. While we're not as directly hit as some sectors, the construction side feels a bit like walking a tightrope right now. Some projects are definitely pushing forward, but others are definitely on hold or scaled back. My gut feeling is we'll see some choppiness, especially with those big infrastructure bills facing political headwinds. Mining is always a wild card, so that's less predictable.

From the engineering side, we haven't seen a significant slowdown in immediate project demand, but the lead times for new orders seem to be stretching out a bit. It feels like customers are more hesitant to commit to large purchases without solid funding confirmation. The global picture is complex; what looks strong in one region might be flat or declining in another. Definitely a period of cautious optimism, I'd say.
