Celanese project cancellations - what's going on?

I'm in the R&D side of things at Celanese, and we've had a couple of projects we've been working on for months suddenly put on indefinite hold. No real explanation given, just that 'strategic priorities have shifted.' It feels really sudden and a bit demoralizing, especially when the budget for these was approved. My manager is being tight-lipped, just saying it's a company-wide review of the portfolio. I'm hearing whispers from other departments about similar things happening. It's making me nervous about job security, even if my role hasn't been directly impacted yet. It feels like more than just a hiring freeze; it feels like a reallocation or even a reduction of resources. Anyone else in a similar boat, especially on the technical/project side?
