Maybe I’m being paranoid, but the amount of 'efficiency' talk in the recent town halls is starting to feel ominous. Every time they pivot to discussing 'streamlining operational expenses' while the stock is hovering where it is, it feels like they’re softening the blow for something else. I’ve noticed several senior leads haven’t been replaced after their departures, and the focus on outsourcing certain back-office functions seems to be accelerating. I’ve started updating my resume just in case—not because I have inside info, but because the writing feels like it's on the wall. If anyone has noticed similar patterns in other business units, I’d appreciate the perspective. Don't want to be caught off guard if we get the dreaded calendar invite for a 'mandatory meeting' on a Friday afternoon.

You aren't being paranoid at all; that is exactly the playbook they used right before the last round of cuts. When leadership starts throwing around words like 'synergy' and 'operational efficiency' in every single meeting, it is a massive red flag. The fact that roles aren't being backfilled is the biggest indicator that a hiring freeze is quietly in effect. It is better to have your resume updated and not need it than to be caught off guard when the ax finally drops. Trust your gut on this one.

Honestly, the writing has been on the wall for a while now. Cencora loves to frame these moves as 'optimizing our future,' but we all know that just translates to getting the same work done with fewer people. I’ve seen this cycle repeat too many times to ignore the signs. If you’re already seeing back-office functions being shipped out to cheaper vendors, that is usually the final step before they start clearing out internal staff. Don't wait for an official announcement to start looking elsewhere; get ahead of the curve while you still have leverage.
