I’ve been watching the same pattern unfold in my department. It feels like the goalpost is constantly shifting, and the 'strategic pillars' are just fancy buzzwords to justify an unsustainable pace. I’ve noticed the same 'private syncs' happening, and the atmosphere has shifted from collaborative to paranoid. Everyone is keeping their heads down, but the morale is completely shot. It’s hard to stay invested when the clear message from leadership is that we’re all replaceable numbers in a spreadsheet. It’s only a matter of time before the burnout causes a mass exodus of the people who actually know how to get the work done.
Honestly, the micromanagement is becoming a joke. My manager is suddenly obsessed with granular activity logs that serve no purpose other than to track every second of our day. It’s clear they are building a paper trail to justify layoffs under the guise of performance issues. If you’re seeing those closed-door meetings, start polishing your resume now. I’ve been looking for an exit for weeks because it’s obvious that 'doing more with less' is just code for squeezing us dry before cutting costs. Don't trust the corporate talk; just look out for yourself and get out while you can.
