Just saw the official WARN filing drop for California. Centene is cutting 10 more positions effective June 27th. I know 10 sounds like a 'drop in the bucket' compared to the massive restructures we saw last year, but don't let that fool you. Every time these small notices hit, it’s usually the sign of a much larger, quieter reduction happening across other states that don't have the same mandatory reporting triggers. If you're in a support role or anything that touches back-office operations, keep your head on a swivel. The severance packages seem to be getting leaner too, though I haven't seen an official confirmation on the terms for this specific group. If you're affected, make sure you've downloaded your personal files and any performance reviews you might need for future applications before you get locked out. We’ve been hearing rumors about Q3 'operational efficiencies' for months now, and this is just the beginning of the next wave. Stay safe out there.

It is exhausting. Every few months there is another trickle of layoffs, and they always claim it is just a small adjustment. Meanwhile, the workload never decreases for those of us left behind, and the constant fear of the next round makes it impossible to focus on actual projects. It feels like they are slowly bleeding the company dry while the executives collect their bonuses. If you are in back-office, please start updating your resume now because the 'quiet' reductions are definitely happening everywhere, even if they aren't on the official reports.

People need to stop looking at these individual WARN notices as isolated incidents. Centene has been playing this game for a while now, using attrition and small-scale cuts to avoid major headlines while fundamentally changing the company structure. The lack of transparency from leadership is the biggest issue. At this point, no department is safe, especially in operations. If you have been feeling like a target or just tired of the instability, take the hint and start looking for something more stable elsewhere.
