The FL numbers are massive—anyone else hearing rumors about Q3?

Just saw the latest WARN filings and the Miami Gardens hit is brutal. Over 100 people in one go? It feels like they are sharpening the axe for the rest of the summer. We’ve been hearing whispers about ‘operational efficiency’ for months, but seeing that many people being cleared out at once in Florida makes the California cuts look like a warm-up. My manager keeps dodging questions about budget cycles and says we’re 'stable,' but we all know what that translates to in mid-level management speak. Is anyone else in the regional offices seeing similar patterns? I’m worried that if they’re cutting this deep in FL, the corporate support teams are next on the chopping block. Thinking about updating the resume tonight, but honestly, the utility sector feels like it's holding its breath right now. Trying to figure out if I should stick it out for the severance package or just start burning my PTO now.

The situation in Florida is definitely grim, and anyone buying the 'operational efficiency' line is setting themselves up for a rough August. When they start mass-filing WARN notices, it means the corporate office has already finalized the spreadsheet cuts and just needs to execute. Don't trust the mid-level managers; they’re often the last to know the full extent of the plan, or worse, they’re instructed to feed you comfort lines while the layoff list is finalized. Start updating your resume today.

I've been tracking the chatter internally, and the vibe shift is palpable. The Q3 projections are looking lean across the board, not just in Florida. It feels like the company is scrambling to satisfy the street after the recent regulatory pushback, and unfortunately, headcount is the only variable they know how to control quickly. If your manager is using vague buzzwords instead of giving you straight answers, take that as a massive red flag. Secure your data and keep your network active before the next round of internal announcements.
