It is honestly getting ridiculous at this point. Every time I open my email, I’m bracing myself for another 'strategic' announcement that ends with someone packing their desk. We’re all just waiting for our number to come up while management continues to toss around corporate buzzwords to mask the reality. The turnover is so high now that institutional knowledge is basically vanishing. At this rate, I’m not sure how they expect the grid to function properly when everyone who actually knows how to keep things running is getting pushed out the door.
I stopped believing the 'optimizing operations' narrative a long time ago. It is clear that the focus has shifted entirely to cutting costs to satisfy shareholders rather than maintaining any kind of stability for the workforce. Watching colleagues who have been here for years get cut during these rolling notices is demoralizing for those of us left behind. Nobody feels secure anymore, and that constant anxiety is just killing productivity. If you are still there, keep your resume updated because loyalty clearly doesn’t mean anything to the leadership team anymore.
