Anyone else noticing the increase in quiet departures?

Is it just me, or is the Slack channel feeling a lot quieter lately? I’ve seen three people from my immediate org leave in the last month, and none of them were backfilled. Usually, we’d have a 'goodbye' post from leadership or at least a team acknowledgment, but these just seem to be vanishing into the ether. I checked the internal directory today and a couple of names I worked with last quarter are just gone without any transition plan mentioned. It feels like we are doing the 'death by a thousand cuts' approach instead of a big headline-grabbing RIF. Management keeps pushing the 'Dayforce' ecosystem shift as the big priority, but morale on the ground is hitting a new low. Is anyone seeing backfills in their departments, or is the silent hiring freeze actually a full-blown headcount reduction in disguise?

It is definitely not just you. The silence is the loudest part of the whole experience lately. I have seen the same thing in my department—people are there on Friday and simply ghosted from the directory by Monday morning. It’s incredibly unsettling to watch the headcount shrink without a single word from leadership. We used to get the standard 'we wish them the best' emails, but now it feels like they are trying to scrub the history before we even notice. Everyone is keeping their head down, but the morale hit is unavoidable when you look around and see empty desks and unassigned projects piling up.

Honestly, the lack of communication is what makes it so toxic. At this point, I think they are intentionally avoiding announcements to keep the remaining staff from spiraling, but it has the exact opposite effect. When you see colleagues vanish into the ether, the speculation starts immediately and the paranoia sets in. It’s impossible to feel secure when you don’t know if your seat will still be there next month. Everyone knows exactly what is happening, but we are all just playing the game until we find an exit strategy of our own.
