Ugh, that sucks! Interviews are brutal, especially when they fixate on one specific thing. Don't beat yourself up too much. Sometimes interviewers have a predetermined idea of who they want, and it has nothing to do with your actual qualifications. Dust yourself off, learn from it, and keep applying. There are plenty of other fish in the sea!
Honestly, senior analyst roles are super competitive. "Transferable skills" only go so far if the job description specifically mentions proficiency in certain software. Maybe use this as a learning opportunity. Identify the software they mentioned and take an online course or find a free tutorial. Next time, you can honestly say you have some experience. Good luck!
