Just venting: absolutely crushed after my Schwab interview

Had an interview for a senior analyst position on the fixed income team last week and I feel like I completely bombed it. I prepped for days, brushed up on everything from duration hedging to yield curve analysis. I thought I aced the technical questions, but then they asked me about my experience with specific software I've barely touched. The interviewer just seemed so unimpressed the entire time, even though I tried to emphasize my transferable skills. Honestly, the worst part is knowing I probably won't get a second chance. I really wanted this job. Ugh, the job search is such a soul-crushing process. Just needed to vent to people who understand.

Ugh, that sucks! Interviews are brutal, especially when they fixate on one specific thing. Don't beat yourself up too much. Sometimes interviewers have a predetermined idea of who they want, and it has nothing to do with your actual qualifications. Dust yourself off, learn from it, and keep applying. There are plenty of other fish in the sea!

Honestly, senior analyst roles are super competitive. "Transferable skills" only go so far if the job description specifically mentions proficiency in certain software. Maybe use this as a learning opportunity. Identify the software they mentioned and take an online course or find a free tutorial. Next time, you can honestly say you have some experience. Good luck!
