Chevron - What's the real scoop on hiring freezes?

Hey everyone, been seeing a lot of chatter about potential layoffs in the energy sector, and Chevron is obviously a huge player. While there's no official word, I've noticed a weird vibe around here lately. My team lead has been super cagey about our Q4 hiring targets, and a couple of roles I know were open are now listed as 'on hold.' Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Any insights into whether this is a company-wide thing or just isolated to certain departments? Trying to get a feel for the general sentiment and if I should be updating my resume just in case. Feels like a lot of companies are tightening belts, and while Chevron's performance has been solid, that doesn't always mean job security. Curious to hear what others are hearing or seeing on the ground.

I've definitely picked up on that too. My department's been putting a pause on all non-essential hiring for the past month or so. Budget reviews seem to be taking longer than usual, and there's a general sense of 'wait and see' from management. It's not a total freeze from what I can tell, but they're certainly being very selective about bringing anyone new on board. Feels like they're tightening the purse strings a bit, waiting for more clarity on the market.
