Corporate culture becoming increasingly cutthroat?

Maybe I’m just jaded, but the vibe in the office has felt incredibly tense lately. Every meeting seems to revolve around 'efficiency' and 'streamlining,' which is usually code for 'we want to cut headcount.' There’s been a noticeable uptick in internal audit requests and process scrutiny that wasn't there six months ago. It feels like everyone is looking over their shoulder waiting for the next shoe to drop. I’ve seen a few colleagues leave recently without any backfills, and the workload just gets dumped on whoever is left. When you ask about it, you just get the standard corporate speak about 'prioritizing key initiatives.' Does anyone have any actual intel on whether there’s a planned RIF, or is this just the typical pre-quarter pressure? I’m seriously considering polishing up the resume because the ambiguity is exhausting.

It's not just you. I've been with the company for a few years, and the atmosphere has shifted dramatically. The obsession with 'throughput' used to be focused on the line, but now it’s bleeding into every corporate department. Management is squeezing every ounce of productivity out of us while trimming the fat elsewhere, and it’s creating a culture of paranoia. Nobody trusts each other anymore because we’re all terrified that being the most 'efficient' person in the room is the only way to keep a seat at the table.

Honestly, the writing has been on the wall for a while. Ever since the push for aggressive expansion and margin growth, the human element has completely disappeared from the corporate side. Those 'internal audits' you mentioned are just a way to build a case for layoffs under the guise of process optimization. If you're feeling the tension, trust your gut. It’s better to start quietly scouting other opportunities now rather than waiting for the inevitable department-wide restructuring that usually follows this kind of corporate behavior.
