You hit the nail on the head. It's never actually about 'excellence' in the way they describe it. That’s just corporate speak for getting three people’s worth of work out of one person. When they start obsessing over digital throughput and efficiency metrics, it’s always a precursor to a restructuring or a push to maximize margins for the next earnings call. It is exhausting to watch them ignore the reality of a skeleton crew while demanding top-tier speed. Just know you aren't the only one feeling the squeeze.
I don’t think there’s some grand conspiracy here, honestly. Every major fast-casual chain does this when labor costs start eating into their profits. It’s standard practice to lean out operations when they want to keep the stock price moving upward. Is it stressful? Absolutely. But the 'Chipotle Excellence' mandate is really just management trying to standardize the chaos so they can keep training costs low. It sucks for those of us on the front lines, but it’s just the nature of the beast in this industry.
