Is the C&D job security myth officially dead?

Church & Dwight used to be the 'safe' CPG firm where people retired after 20 years. After the recent round in Lancaster, I think it’s pretty clear that era is over. The reality is that the margin pressure is mounting and they are clearly looking for any excuse to trim headcount to appease shareholders. I’m currently in a role where we’re being asked to do the work of two people because of the recent departures, and management acts like everything is business as usual. No acknowledgement, no morale building, just 'do more with less.' It feels like they are squeezing the lemon until there’s nothing left. If you’re currently looking to jump ship, I’d suggest getting your resume updated sooner rather than later. Don't fall for the corporate 'we are a family' messaging. When the numbers don't look right, you're just a line item on an Excel sheet to them. Anyone else feeling the pressure mounting in other departments or regions? It feels like a slow-motion car crash right now.

It’s wild how quickly the narrative has shifted. C&D used to be the gold standard for stability in this industry, but that reputation has completely eroded. When you start seeing them lean this heavily into headcount reduction to satisfy quarterly projections, you know the culture has fundamentally changed. If you’re currently stuck picking up the slack for two people, take it as a major red flag. They aren't going to acknowledge the burnout because, to them, you’re just a line item they are trying to minimize until the next round of cuts hits. Protect your own interests and keep your resume updated.
