Confirmed: Morris Plains cuts are mostly IT/Ops

For those asking about the 62 layoffs in Morris Plains, I have a few friends who were caught up in it. It’s mostly hitting the IT and back-office operations teams this time around. Seems like a consolidation play as they push more toward their offshore partners. They didn't give much heads-up—standard corporate playbook. You get the invite for a 'business update,' you see the HR rep on the call, and you know exactly what’s happening before they even say a word. It’s brutal. I’ve heard from a few people that the severance packages are mediocre at best, which is just insulting given the record profits the company has been posting recently. If you’re in an admin or support role in NJ, I’d suggest updating the resume ASAP. Don't believe the 'everything is fine' emails from leadership. They’ve been planning this shift for months. It’s really just a numbers game to them, and unfortunately, we’re the numbers being deleted to make the quarterly margins look better for the shareholders. Stay safe out there, everyone.

The Morris Plains cuts are unfortunately just the tip of the iceberg. I’ve seen this cycle happen three times now in my tenure. Management keeps preaching about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining,' but it’s really just a race to the bottom to see how cheaply they can outsource core functions. My heart goes out to the folks who were blindsided. It’s impossible to plan your life when the company treats your role as a line item to be deleted whenever the quarterly margins look a bit thin. Start polishing those resumes now.

I was expecting this announcement for a while, honestly. When they started aggressively pushing the offshore initiatives last year, it was clear that stateside roles were being phased out to cut overhead. It’s a ruthless way to handle things, but that’s the corporate reality at this level. If you are in IT or Ops and haven't started networking outside the organization yet, you need to wake up. They aren't interested in loyalty, only in reducing the headcount costs to satisfy the shareholders before the next earnings report.
