Is the 'One Cigna' strategy just a mask for budget slashing?

Is anyone else tired of the corporate speak? We keep hearing about how we’re streamlining under the 'One Cigna' umbrella, but all it seems to mean is that we’re losing more headcount every few months. The Morris Plains hit wasn't huge in the grand scheme, but it’s death by a thousand cuts. The lack of transparency is what gets me. You go to work, do your job, and then wake up to a WARN notice on a public site before leadership says a word. It’s impossible to plan your career here when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if your team is next on the chopping block. Are we actually growing anywhere, or is the entire strategy just cutting costs to satisfy the street? I’m genuinely curious if anyone feels secure right now, or if we’re all just waiting for the next invite that leads to a meeting with HR and a guy from IT.

It is the exact same playbook every single year. They roll out some flashy branding like 'One Cigna' to make the chaos sound like a strategic vision, but it is just a convenient cover for headcount reduction. The lack of respect regarding how these announcements hit public channels before employees are even notified is insulting. Most of us have stopped caring about the corporate mission statements because we know the only real goal is propping up the margins for the next quarterly report. It is exhausting to keep pretending that leadership has a long-term plan for the people.

I have been here long enough to see these cycles repeat, and it never gets easier. Every time they start pushing these internal mantras, I know exactly what is coming next. It is not about integration; it is about trimming the fat while keeping everyone on edge so they stay quiet. The total silence from the top until the very last second just highlights how replaceable they think we are. If they actually cared about the workforce, they would stop hiding behind these hollow slogans and just be honest about the future of the company.
