Feeling the pressure to force churn

Is it just my location, or is there a massive, top-down push to trim 'low-value' accounts across the board? I feel like we’re being pushed to drop customers who aren't meeting a certain margin threshold, which is fine in theory, but it feels like the criteria are becoming impossible to meet. If you aren't bringing in massive new business every week, the tone from upper management is basically 'why are you here?' The burnout is real. I’ve seen three long-tenured people leave in the last two months, and their roles aren't being backfilled—they’re just being absorbed by the remaining team. It feels like they are intentionally keeping us understaffed to see how much we can handle before we break. If this is the new standard, I don't know how much longer I can keep this pace up. Just curious if others are seeing this shift in expectation or if my location is just particularly toxic right now.

It's definitely not just your location. The culture has shifted drastically toward aggressive churn, and the arbitrary margin thresholds are setting everyone up to fail. Management only looks at the spreadsheets and ignores the reality of maintaining those accounts. I've watched solid reps walk out the door because the constant pressure to drop 'low-value' clients while simultaneously hunting for whales is unsustainable. They’re burning through human capital to chase short-term metrics that won't hold up in the long run. Take care of yourself, because this company certainly won't.

The focus on cutting low-margin accounts is corporate-wide. It's a strategy that looks good in a board meeting but makes daily operations a nightmare. When they move the goalposts every quarter, you’re basically fighting an unwinnable game. It’s no wonder tenure is dropping; they’ve traded retention for a frantic, top-down obsession with growth that disregards the actual workload. If the environment is killing your mental health, start looking elsewhere. Plenty of us have jumped ship, and honestly, the grass is much greener once you're away from the constant, manufactured urgency.
