Anyone else feeling the silence on internal transfers?

I've been trying to move teams for about six months now, and it's like the internal job board has gone dark. Usually, there's a decent churn, even if it's slow, but lately, it's just crickets. Every role I inquire about gets a 'sorry, still under review' or 'we're not actively backfilling right now.' It's making me wonder if they've effectively frozen internal mobility to keep headcount down. Makes you feel trapped, especially when your current role isn't exactly fulfilling and you're seeing your workload increase. Anyone else experiencing this wall when trying to move internally? Wondering if it's just my department or a wider trend.

Yeah, I'm feeling it too. It's been months since I saw anything truly interesting posted internally, and the few roles that do pop up seem to disappear before you can even get a response. My recruiter contact mentioned that hiring managers are being extremely selective right now, and budgets are definitely tight across the board. It's definitely a stark contrast to how it was even a year ago. Makes you question the long-term career path here if moving isn't even an option.

Totally. I've been hearing the same whispers. It feels like there's an unspoken freeze on internal movement. I've reached out to a few different departments about potential openings, and the responses have been non-committal at best. It's frustrating because I know there are talented people looking for new opportunities within the company, but the pathways just aren't opening up. Makes it hard to stay motivated when you feel stuck in place.
