Anyone else seeing the VPs getting nervous?

It’s getting weird on the floor. I’ve been here for six years and I’ve never seen the directors go this quiet during the weekly town halls. Usually, they have some canned optimistic script about 'synergy' or 'growth initiatives' to feed us, but the last two meetings felt like they were just reading off a suicide note. My manager canceled our 1:1 for the third time this month, and when I caught him in the hallway, he wouldn't even look me in the eye. He just mumbled something about 'reallocating resources' and walked away fast. The rumor mill is hitting overdrive—people are whispering about an Q3 restructuring plan that they’re trying to keep under wraps until after the next earnings call. Anyone else getting the 'you're next' vibe from their leadership, or is it just my department that’s burning?

The shift in the room is palpable. When leadership stops using the standard corporate buzzwords about growth, you know the numbers in the back office are looking grim. My team lead has been spending all day behind closed doors with HR, and the air around the desk is thick with anxiety. We all know the headcount reduction is coming, but the silence from the top is honestly more insulting than a straight-up firing notice. It feels like we are all just waiting for the other shoe to drop while management pretends everything is business as usual.

Same energy here. I stopped relying on the town halls for actual information months ago. At this point, it’s just a ritual of watching executives look uncomfortable while they dodge questions about the restructuring. If they’re avoiding 1:1s, they’ve already made their lists and are just waiting for the final sign-off from legal to start the clean-up. Best advice is to update your resume and start pinging your external network immediately. Don’t wait for them to hand you a cardboard box; be gone before the layoffs hit.
