Citi's competitive landscape and market position concerns

Been working at Citi for a while and while I love my team, I can't shake the feeling that we're losing ground. We're constantly up against more nimble competitors, both traditional banks and newer fintech players, who seem to be innovating at a faster pace. I see resources being allocated in ways that don't always seem to align with future growth areas, and there's a lot of internal restructuring happening which, while maybe necessary, feels disruptive. I'm not seeing the kind of aggressive investment in key growth technologies or market segments that I'd expect to see from a leader in this space. It makes me wonder about the long-term strategic direction and how Citi plans to maintain its competitive edge. Anyone else feel like the company is playing catch-up rather than setting the pace?

I hear your frustration. The pace of change in finance is relentless, and it's definitely a challenge for large institutions to keep up. The fintech disruption is real, and it forces everyone to re-evaluate their strategies. Hopefully, the restructuring will lead to a more agile and focused approach that can better compete in this evolving market.

It's a tough balancing act, isn't it? Maintaining a large, established operation while trying to be as innovative as a startup. I've seen similar struggles at other big banks. The key is whether leadership can effectively redirect resources and foster a culture that embraces new ideas, even if it means shaking things up internally. Fingers crossed they find the right formula.
