Has anyone seen a slowdown in projects/hiring at Citi lately?

Hey all, I've been at Citi for a few years now, primarily in [mention general area like tech/operations/middle office, avoid specifics]. Lately, things have felt...different. Project kick-offs seem to be fewer and farther between, and the usual buzz around new initiatives has quieted down. I'm also hearing whispers about a general slowdown in hiring, not necessarily a full freeze, but definitely a tightening of the belt. Anyone else picking up on this? It's not just my team; I've spoken to folks in other divisions, and they're sensing it too. It's hard to tell if this is just a cyclical lull or something more significant. Trying not to jump to conclusions, but the atmosphere feels a bit more cautious than usual. Curious to hear if others are experiencing similar things, or if I'm just overthinking it.

Yeah, I've definitely noticed a similar vibe. It's not a complete halt, but you can feel the shift. Budgets seem tighter, and approvals are taking longer than usual. It's making some of the planning feel a bit uncertain. Makes you wonder what the bigger picture is, you know?

Interesting you bring this up. From my end, it feels like a strategic recalibration rather than a broad slowdown. Some areas are certainly more active than others. We're seeing more focus on efficiency and core business lines, which might be why certain project pipelines appear less robust. Hiring seems more targeted now.
