Hiring freeze or just super slow? Feels weird.

Haven't seen any new roles posted for my department in months, and the ones that *are* open seem to be stuck in limbo. HR says 'streamlining' but it feels like a quiet freeze. Recruiters I used to talk to are radio silent. Makes me wonder if they're bracing for something, or if the internal process is just that broken right now. Anyone else's teams feeling this? Or is it just my corner of Citi?

I've noticed something similar. My team's headcount requests from last quarter are still pending, and there's a general air of caution. It's definitely not the usual hiring pace we've seen in the past. The 'streamlining' explanation feels a bit like corporate speak for 'we're not hiring much right now.' It's making people anxious about future growth and stability within the company.

Yeah, the silence from recruiters is deafening. I reached out about a role a few weeks ago and got a generic auto-reply saying they'd be in touch if I was a fit, which is standard, but then... nothing. My manager also mentioned that new positions need multiple layers of approval now, which is slowing things down considerably. Definitely feels like more than just a typical bottleneck.
