Internal 'efficiency' drives feel like a prelude...

Been at Citi for a while now, and the recent push around 'efficiency' and 'streamlining processes' feels different. Usually, these are buzzwords that come and go, but this time it feels more intense. We're being asked to document everything, optimize workflows, and frankly, it feels like a lot of busywork. My manager keeps talking about 'resource optimization' and 'leveraging existing capabilities.' It's all very corporate speak, but the underlying message seems to be about doing more with less. I've also noticed a quiet pause on some planned initiatives, and the hiring pipeline for non-critical roles seems to have dried up significantly. It's not a formal hiring freeze, but the approvals are taking forever. It just feels like the groundwork is being laid for something. Anyone else picking up on this? It's making me a bit uneasy about the coming months.

I've noticed the same thing. It's like they're trying to squeeze every last drop out of us. The constant process reviews and the emphasis on 'synergies' are exhausting. Feels like we're all just cogs in a machine that's constantly being retuned, and not always for the better. Hope this leads to something concrete and not just more meetings about how to be more efficient.

Yeah, the 'efficiency' push is definitely palpable. It's the same old song and dance, but the tempo is faster. Management seems determined to make us all lean and mean. I'm trying to focus on the positives, like maybe it means better tools or less bureaucracy down the line, but for now, it just feels like extra work with no clear end goal in sight.
