Is it just me or are project budgets being squeezed at Citi?

Starting to notice a real tightening on project budgets and resource allocation across the board here at Citi. Seems like anything not mission-critical is getting a second look, and there's a lot more hesitation to approve new initiatives or even minor scope increases. It feels like they're preparing for something, whether it's a slowdown or actual headcount reductions down the line. It's making it tough to get anything meaningful done when you're constantly having to justify every penny. Anyone else seeing this? Is this a firm-wide thing or just my division?

Yeah, I've been feeling that too. The scrutiny on every dollar spent has definitely ramped up. It feels like we're in a perpetual state of 'prove its worth' before any funding gets approved. Makes you wonder what the long-term strategy is when even minor improvements are getting such a hard time getting off the ground. Hopefully, it's just a temporary phase and not a sign of bigger issues.

Totally agree. It’s not just you. The green light for projects has been much harder to get recently. Even projects that were previously approved are now facing extra hurdles and requests for justification. It's creating a lot of frustration and slowing down progress on things that could genuinely add value. Makes you question the priorities when necessary investments are being stalled.
