My team's workload has spiked, but headcount is frozen?

Been feeling really stretched thin over the past couple of months. We've lost a few people due to attrition, and management is saying 'headcount freeze' so no replacements are coming. Meanwhile, the amount of work has actually increased, not decreased. We're being asked to do more with less, and the pressure is definitely mounting. Morale is pretty low, to be honest. People are burning out and starting to look around. It feels like a classic sign of things to come when the company tries to squeeze more out of the existing workforce before making any tough decisions. Anyone else experiencing this kind of imbalance on their team?

Ugh, sounds like a familiar tune. This 'do more with less' mentality is exhausting and unsustainable. When morale tanks, productivity and quality inevitably follow. Hope your management realizes the impact before they lose even more good people. It's tough when you feel unsupported like that.

That's a rough spot to be in. The pressure to overperform without adequate resources is a recipe for burnout. It's frustrating when the company's actions don't match the expectations being placed on the employees. Hopefully, things shift soon, but it's understandable why people would start exploring other options.
