Sudden emphasis on 'cross-functional synergy'... what's the endgame?

0x532e…653dLately, feels like every other meeting is about 'driving synergy across divisions' or 'breaking down silos'. Management is really pushing this collaborative narrative. On the surface, it sounds good, right? Better communication, smoother processes. But it feels different this time. The energy around it is almost... frantic. We're being pulled into projects outside our core functions, asked to 'advise' teams we have minimal interaction with, and attend endless working groups. My actual project deliverables are starting to slip because I'm spending so much time in these 'synergy sessions'. It feels like they're trying to consolidate roles or identify redundancies without explicitly saying it. Anyone else experiencing this orchestrated push for 'interdepartmental teamwork' and have a theory about the real driver?
