Post-layoff team dynamics - is it sustainable?

So, the dust is starting to settle after the recent cuts. I'm still here, and honestly, things feel... different. We lost a lot of talented people across various departments. Now, the remaining work is being redistributed, and the pressure is definitely on. Management keeps talking about 'streamlining' and 'increased efficiency,' but it feels like we're just being asked to do more with less, without any real plan for how that's sustainable long-term. Has anyone else noticed a shift in how teams are operating? Are projects getting delayed? Is the quality of work suffering because everyone is stretched so thin? Curious to hear from others who are navigating this new reality on the ground.

It's definitely a tough situation. I've seen similar patterns after layoffs elsewhere. The initial chaos gives way to this uneasy calm where everyone's just trying to figure out their new roles and workload. Management's focus on efficiency is understandable, but it often overlooks the human cost and the potential for burnout. Hopefully, your team can find a way to communicate their concerns effectively and establish realistic expectations, otherwise, that sustainability concern is very valid.
