Post-layoff vibe at Cloudflare - is it really that different?

Reading all the coverage about the recent layoffs at Cloudflare (1100 people, wow) and the talk about automation making certain roles redundant. I'm not at Cloudflare, but I'm trying to gauge the internal atmosphere. For those still there, what's the general feeling? Is it all doom and gloom, or are people genuinely feeling more productive and secure knowing that the company is streamlining? Heard some chatter that they actually grew their engineering team despite the cuts, which is a wild contrast. Does that mean the cuts were focused on specific departments, or is there a significant shift in focus? How are the remaining teams handling the increased workload, if any? Any sense of what the future holds for roles like these? Trying to understand the long-term implications for the company and its employees.

It's tough to see so many people impacted by layoffs, regardless of the reasons. I can only imagine the uncertainty some must be feeling. On the flip side, if the company is focusing on efficiency and growth in key areas, perhaps there's a renewed sense of purpose for those remaining. It's a complex situation with a lot of moving parts, and I hope the best for everyone involved during this transition period. The idea of growing engineering while cutting elsewhere is certainly interesting to ponder.
