Feeling the squeeze: Are bonuses next?

It’s honestly getting hard to justify the stress here lately. We just had the headcount reduction on the 1st, and the management team acts like it’s business as usual while the remaining teams are being asked to absorb the extra workload. There’s zero discussion about backfilling these positions, so we’re basically doing two people’s jobs for the same salary. I've been with the group for a while, and the 'best place to work' internal marketing feels like a complete joke now. People are looking over their shoulders every time an invite from HR hits their calendar. I’m starting to worry that the compensation packages are going to get gutted next to offset the 'operational efficiency' narrative they’re pushing. Does anyone know if there’s a freeze on merit increases, or are they just going to rely on attrition to save money? I’m exhausted.

The morale drop is palpable. It feels like every quarter we’re told to 'do more with less' while executive leadership pushes the same tired internal branding. Expecting the remaining teams to absorb the work of those laid off without any talk of comp adjustments or backfills is exactly why the top talent is already updating their resumes. The silence from management regarding future stability says everything you need to know about where we stand.

Honestly, the writing has been on the wall for months. I wouldn’t hold my breath on bonuses this year; the focus is clearly on optics and margin protection rather than retention. It’s frustrating to see the company lean into these 'best place to work' campaigns while the actual culture is burning out. If you’re feeling the pressure, you aren’t alone. Most of us are just waiting for the right exit window before the next round of cuts hits.
