Does anyone actually believe the 'AI efficiency' narrative?

I’m reading the official messaging about how this round of layoffs is about 'reshaping work' and leveraging AI, but let’s be real—the burn rate has been an open secret for months. Are we supposed to pretend that these 700 people were let go because a bot can do their job now? It feels like gaslighting. We all know the markets are shaky and the regulatory environment isn't exactly doing us any favors. I feel for the people who got the boot today, but I’m losing faith in the leadership’s ability to pivot without treating the headcount like a faucet they can just turn on and off. If this is how they handle growth and downturns, I really have to question if this company has a sustainable path forward. It feels like we’re just sprinting toward the next quarterly earnings report instead of building anything substantial. Anyone else feeling like the 'AI' angle is just a convenient cover for standard cost-cutting because the growth projections failed to materialize?

It is honestly insulting that they expect us to buy the AI story when the financial reports tell a completely different tale. Everyone knows the burn rate has been spiraling, and this is just the standard corporate playbook to mask poor fiscal management. They are trying to shift the narrative to look like they are on the cutting edge of innovation, when in reality, they are just cutting costs to stay afloat. Leadership needs to drop the PR spin and start being transparent about the actual health of the company.

You are spot on with the gaslighting assessment. It is incredibly frustrating to see a company hide behind industry buzzwords while people lose their livelihoods. The regulatory environment is definitely a major headwind, but pinning these layoffs on some magical efficiency shift is a slap in the face to the folks who built this platform. They want to project strength to shareholders, but this just highlights the instability under the surface. I really hope the remaining team can get some actual clarity instead of this corporate nonsense.
