Is Coinbase just blaming the economy again?

Seriously, are we really buying this restructuring BS? I've been at Coinbase for almost 5 years, seen the cycles. Last time it was 'crypto winter,' now it's... what, 'process optimization'? They keep saying it's not performance-related, but my team just delivered a killer feature that boosted user engagement by 20%. And now I'm gone? Makes zero sense. Feels like they're just using a buzzword to justify cutting costs and boosting profits. Anyone else feeling like they're being gaslit?

I feel you. Been through similar at a couple of other tech companies. The 'it's not you, it's the economy' line is classic corporate speak for 'we over-hired and now have to answer to shareholders.' Your team's performance is irrelevant when the bigger picture is about cutting expenses. Don't take it personally, even though it's hard not to. Dust yourself off, update that resume, and remember your value. The job market is still decent, especially with that kind of achievement under your belt.

Honestly, every company says this kind of stuff during layoffs. Sometimes it's true, sometimes it's not. I'm always skeptical. But let's be real, crypto is volatile. Coinbase *has* been through boom and bust cycles. Maybe they are streamlining. Or maybe they are just badly managed. Probably some of both. Either way, sounds like a good time to explore other opportunities. There are plenty of other places in the space that are hiring.
