ConocoPhillips - Signs of a slowdown or just normal cycle?

Hey everyone, I've been at COP for a few years now and lately, the vibe feels… different. Not hearing any official layoff news, but there's a noticeable tightening of the purse strings. Budgets seem way tighter this quarter, and some projects I thought were greenlit are suddenly on ice or being re-evaluated. Heard some whispers in different departments about hiring freezes, though nothing concrete. Performance reviews are coming up, and honestly, the pressure feels a bit higher than usual. Is this just the typical energy sector ebb and flow, or are others picking up on something more significant? Curious to hear if anyone else is seeing similar patterns or has any insights into what might be driving this. Just trying to get a sense of the temperature out there.

Been with COP for a while myself and definitely picking up on the same sentiment. The budget scrutiny is real, and it's making planning for Q3/Q4 a bit of a headache. While there's no panic, it does feel like the company is gearing up for something, whether that's a conservative outlook or a strategic shift. Keeping an eye on what leadership says in the next town hall. Hopefully, they'll offer some clarity on the direction things are headed beyond just 'efficiency drives'.
