So, performance review season is almost upon us at ConocoPhillips, and it feels like there's a lot more scrutiny this year. Heard some whispers about tighter budgets for next year, which naturally makes me think about potential headcount reductions down the line, even if nothing is official. It’s hard to ignore the signs when you see certain initiatives being scaled back or travel being scrutinized more heavily than before. Is anyone else in a similar boat? Are you seeing budget freezes or project delays in your teams? Just trying to get a sense of the broader picture before the official reviews kick off. Feels like a good time to have your ducks in a row, just in case. Would be good to hear if anyone has more specific intel, but even general feelings are welcome.

I've definitely felt a shift in the atmosphere here at COP lately. The usual performance review buzz feels more like a nervous hum this time around. Budget discussions seem to be more guarded, and the emphasis on efficiency is palpable. It's understandable given the market, but it does create a bit of unease about what might come next. Hopefully, it's just standard belt-tightening and not a precursor to anything more drastic.

It's not just you. I've noticed the same increased scrutiny on expenses and a general tightening of the purse strings across departments. While I appreciate the need for fiscal responsibility, especially in our industry, it does make you wonder about the long-term implications. Let's hope management is transparent about their plans and communicates any potential changes clearly to the workforce. Uncertainty is the hardest part.
