Is anyone actually getting clear answers about year-end targets?

The communication from leadership lately has been absolutely abysmal. We get these vague all-hands meetings about staying competitive, but then we turn around and see more WARN notices hitting the California sites. It creates such a toxic environment where everyone is just staring at their Slack status waiting for it to turn grey. Is it just me, or has the transparency bottomed out since the start of Q4? I’ve been trying to get a straight answer from my manager about the 2027 budget outlook, but they seem just as lost as the rest of us. It feels like they’re waiting for the end of the year to dump another round of cuts. Does anyone else feel like the 'One COP' vibe is just a corporate way of saying they’re thinning the herd to boost the year-end numbers for the Street?

It is definitely not just you. The disconnect between the corporate rhetoric about efficiency and the reality on the ground in California is staggering. Leadership acts like everything is fine, but the constant anxiety over layoffs is draining the morale of every team I talk to. Nobody trusts the projections anymore because the goalposts move every time a new budget cycle starts. At this point, we are all just trying to keep our heads down and survive until the next round of news drops, but the lack of honest communication is making it impossible to plan for anything, let alone 2027.

Stop looking for clarity where there isn't any. Management has zero incentive to be transparent right now because that would involve admitting they don't know what the headcount looks like next quarter. The company is in pure survival mode, chasing whatever quarterly metrics look good to investors, and that means the actual staff are just numbers on a spreadsheet to be balanced. Forget about 2027—that budget is a fantasy. Just do your work, update your resume, and prepare for the worst. It’s a job, not a community, so don’t expect them to treat you like a partner.
