Newark/Costa Mesa folks - are we safe or is this just the start?

Just saw the WARN notice for the Newark/Costa Mesa office. 262 people getting cut mid-November is a massive gut punch, especially with the holidays coming up. I’ve been hearing whispers about 'synergies' and 'operational efficiencies' in the internal town halls, but they always couch it in such vague corporate speak. Is there any transparency on whether this is a localized reduction related to the facility closing or are we looking at a broader push across the board? I’m in a different department and the anxiety is palpable. My manager is acting like everything is business as usual, but we all know that's just the script they’re told to read. If anyone from the affected group is reading this, I’m truly sorry. Does anyone know if there’s a severance package on the table or if they are just clearing house? Trying to decide if I need to start polishing the resume this weekend or if I can breathe for another quarter.

The 'synergy' buzzword is always a massive red flag. Based on how they’ve handled past integrations, these cuts rarely stay localized. When you see numbers this specific hitting before the holidays, it’s usually the first wave of a wider consolidation strategy. They keep things vague to avoid a mass exodus before they get what they need out of the remaining staff. Keep your resume updated and start networking outside the company immediately; don't wait for internal transparency that will never actually come.

It is honestly sickening how they drop this news right before the holiday season. The Newark and Costa Mesa offices have been on edge for months, and seeing the WARN notice finally go public just confirms the worst fears. Management loves to hide behind corporate jargon about operational efficiency while people are losing their livelihoods. If you're still sitting at your desk, assume nothing is guaranteed. The writing is on the wall for many more departments as they look to squeeze every bit of profit out of these assets.
