Anyone else notice the shift in tone during Town Halls?

Maybe I’m just hyper-aware because of the climate in the industry right now, but the latest Town Hall felt incredibly scripted and hollow. The focus on 'efficiency' and 'streamlining operations' is a major red flag for me. Usually, they talk about growth targets and product innovation, but the vibe lately has shifted toward lean operations and doing more with less. I have friends in other CPG firms who saw similar rhetoric about two months before the axe dropped. I’m not saying there’s an official announcement coming tomorrow, but I’ve definitely started cleaning up my resume this weekend. It’s hard to stay motivated when you feel like the company is pivoting to survival mode rather than growth. Has anyone heard anything concrete, or are we all just reading tea leaves at this point?

I’ve definitely felt that shift too. It’s the classic corporate playbook: once the messaging pivots from 'innovation and expansion' to 'streamlining and operational efficiency,' the writing is usually on the wall. It feels like they’re trying to prime us for some difficult news under the guise of being lean. When leadership stops talking about the future of the brand and starts fixating on headcounts and cost-cutting, it’s rarely a good sign for job security. Keep your resume updated just in case.

Honestly, I think you might be reading too much into it. Every CPG company is dealing with tightening margins and inflation right now, so a focus on efficiency is just standard industry reaction, not necessarily a harbinger of doom. I interpreted the tone as being more grounded and realistic rather than hollow. Maybe they’re just trying to pivot to sustainable growth instead of chasing reckless numbers. I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about layoffs just yet; sometimes a company actually just needs to clean up its internal processes.
