Is the Atlanta office shrinking or just relocating?

I’ve been seeing the reports about the 84 people cut at the Peachtree office and honestly, it’s giving me major deja vu. It feels like every six months there’s another 'restructuring' announcement that quietly sweeps a massive chunk of the headcount out the door. Are we just consolidating, or is the Atlanta branch being phased out entirely? The messaging from leadership is always the same boilerplate corporate speak about 'strategic alignment' and 'optimizing resources,' but the reality on the ground is just constant instability. I’ve reached out to a few people I know who were still there, and the silence is deafening. Is anyone else hearing rumors about whether more floors are being vacated or if the remaining team is just being told to deal with the increased workload? It’s hard to stay focused on hitting those quarterly KPIs when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if your badge is going to stop working on a random Tuesday.

It is definitely more than just a simple relocation. I have been watching their hiring patterns, and it is pretty clear they are aggressively shifting focus toward their other hubs. Whenever management starts throwing around terms like 'optimizing resources,' it is almost always code for a slow-motion exit. They are likely just trimming the fat before they pull the plug on the physical space entirely to save on overhead. Don't expect any straight answers until the lease is already up and the office is empty.

Honestly, I wouldn't hold your breath for transparency. CoStar has been playing this shell game with different locations for years now, and the 'strategic alignment' line is just the standard script they feed us every time they want to avoid bad PR. Whether it is a full shutdown or just a consolidation, the end result for the people on the ground remains the same. If you are still in that office, I would suggest dusting off your resume and keeping your options open because things usually don't get better from here.
