Is the culture getting toxic for everyone else?

I’ve been at CoStar for about two years now, and the shift in atmosphere over the last six months is night and day. It feels like every time I open Slack, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. The pressure to hit impossible KPIs despite the current market conditions is burning everyone out. It’s not even just about the layoffs—it’s the way leadership communicates (or doesn't communicate) that’s really getting to me. Every meeting feels like a 'do more with less' pep talk that ignores the fact that we’re all stretched paper thin. I’m honestly exhausted. I find myself checking LinkedIn more than my actual work email these days. Anyone else just completely checked out mentally? How are you guys handling the constant anxiety of whether your team is next on the chopping block?

I felt this in my soul. The disconnect between leadership’s 'visionary' rhetoric and the absolute slog of hitting those KPIs is staggering. It feels like they’re living in a spreadsheet while we’re dealing with the reality of a freezing market. You aren't imagining the shift; the environment has become incredibly performative and high-pressure. If you're feeling burned out, just know it’s not a reflection of your work ethic—it’s the systemic churn they’ve built. Take care of yourself first, because they certainly won't.

Same boat here. The constant surveillance and the expectation that we should be grateful for the grind while the goalposts move every week is exhausting. Management stopped caring about realistic outcomes a long time ago; it’s all about optics and middle-management posturing now. I’ve noticed the same anxiety in the office—people are just heads-down and silent because everyone is terrified of being the next one on the chopping block. Start updating your resume quietly. Nothing changes here until the turnover rate gets high enough to force their hand, and even then, I doubt they'll listen.
