Any other departments feeling the pressure to hit targets?

Hey everyone, been with Costco for a few years now, and lately, especially in my department (just gonna leave it at that for now, but it's front-end adjacent), I'm feeling a real push to upsell and push certain items more than usual. It feels like there's a new metric or target being emphasized every week. Management is talking a lot about 'optimizing' and 'efficiency', which is usually code for something, right? I'm not hearing anything concrete about layoffs, but the overall vibe feels... tense. Are other stores or departments experiencing this? Is it just my location, or is this a company-wide push? Wondering if this is just a standard seasonal thing or if it signals something more. Curious to hear what others are seeing and if anyone has insider info on why this might be happening.

I hear you on the constant shifting targets. It feels like you can never quite get ahead when the goalposts keep moving. It's exhausting trying to keep up with new initiatives every week, and you're right, 'optimizing' often feels like a euphemism for cutting corners or increasing workload without more resources. Hopefully, it's just a cyclical thing and things will settle down soon.

Yep, definitely noticing the push from management. It's like they're trying to squeeze every last drop out of us right now. The pressure to upsell and focus on specific items can definitely make the job feel more like a constant sales pitch than the customer service role we signed up for. Let's hope this intense focus on 'efficiency' doesn't lead to burnout for anyone.
