Costco - Anyone else notice a shift in management approach?

Hey everyone, been at Costco for a few years now, mainly in the warehouse side. Lately, I've been getting a weird vibe from upper management. It feels like there's more of a focus on squeezing every last drop out of us, but without any real changes to support or resources. The 'efficiency' push is palpable, and honestly, it's starting to feel less like a team environment and more like we're just cogs in a machine. Anyone else in other departments or stores seeing this? Is it just my location, or is this a company-wide thing? Curious to hear if others are feeling this shift and what your take is. Is this just the new normal, or are we heading towards something more significant? Concerned but trying to stay positive.

Yeah, I've definitely felt a similar pressure lately, even in my department. It seems like the drive for metrics is way up, but the actual support to hit those numbers hasn't really budged. It makes those already tough shifts feel even longer and more demanding. I used to feel like we were all in it together, but it's starting to feel a bit more impersonal, like you said. Hoping it's just a phase and things will balance out.

Interesting you bring this up. I'm in a different region, but the buzz about needing to 'optimize' everything is constant. We're getting more directives about process streamlining, which often translates to doing more with less. While I appreciate the need to be efficient, it does sometimes feel like the human element gets overlooked. It's a tricky balance, for sure. Hopefully, leadership sees the impact on morale.
