Costco Team Leads - What's the real deal? Stress vs. Reward.

Hey everyone, Been a Team Lead at Costco for a bit now, and I'm trying to figure out if this is sustainable long-term or if I'm just burning myself out for a bit of extra cash and responsibility. On the one hand, I get a decent pay bump, and honestly, some of the people I work with are awesome. We have a good team dynamic, and when things are smooth, it feels pretty rewarding to keep things running. But then there's the other side. The pressure to hit metrics, deal with customer complaints that aren't really my fault, cover for call-outs, and basically be 'on' for my entire shift. It feels like I'm constantly juggling, and even when I'm off the clock, my brain is still running through potential issues. Plus, the 'grunt work' still falls on me when needed, which is fine, but adds to the workload. Is this the norm for Team Leads across different departments or warehouses? Are there people who've found a good balance, or is it just a constant battle? Curious to hear from others in similar roles about how you manage, what the biggest headaches are, and if you think the stress is worth the benefits. Really trying to get a feel for the reality beyond the surface.

Hang in there! It sounds like you're navigating the typical Team Lead tightrope – the perks of responsibility and decent pay versus the inevitable daily grind and metric pressure. It's tough to gauge sustainability when you're in the thick of it. Maybe try tracking your hours and stress levels for a month? Seeing it laid out might offer some clarity on whether the 'extra cash' truly compensates for the burnout potential. And definitely lean on those awesome colleagues when you can!

I get what you're saying. That balance between leadership rewards and the sheer weight of responsibility can be brutal. The customer complaints alone can drain you. Have you considered setting clearer boundaries between work and your personal life? Sometimes just mentally 'leaving' work at the door, even if the workload is still there, can make a huge difference. Also, exploring if there are internal training programs for stress management could be beneficial.
